If you’re in the market for a new cable provider, there are many to choose from. How do you know which one is best for your needs? Here we’ve taken a look at the top five cable companies and provided a bit of insight to help you make an informed choice.

1. DIRECTV

Offers you a number of different plans. You can choose from cable bundles and individual premium channels. Their most affordable package starts at just $50 a month and provides you with over 145 channels. Or, go for their largest package of over 315 channels for around $125 a month. DIRECTV is a sports lover’s dream, as they offer packages like the NFL Sunday Ticket. DIRECTV is known for their excellent customer service and their long-term, lower-cost packages. And, now DIRECTV even offers internet service, so you can get some great deals on cable and internet bundles.

2. Comcast

Has been in the cable and internet business for a long time. They offer plenty of deals to new customers, but often their customer service lags behind other providers, and the prices tend to increase a great deal after your initial package ends. Right now, Comcast offers around 140 channels for about $50 per month for the first year or 260 channels for around $100 a month. They have a new DVR which has enough room for you to store hundreds of your favorite shows and it allows you to record up to five shows at the same time. However, you can only get this super DVR if you choose one of their internet and phone bundles.

3. Frontier

Is another cable provider who offers you money-saving bundles. However, Frontier has a number of customer service complaints. Customers say the response time from customer service is very slow…if at all. Frontier does offer fiber optic components, though, which many people prefer. Their prices are comparable, and they often run some pretty great ‘new customer’ deals, like TV, phone and internet bundles starting at just $40 per month. As you add more changes, and faster internet speeds, those prices do go up.

4. Spectrum

Offers you no contracts, which can be a great thing. In fact, they will even buy you out of your current cable and internet contract! Spectrum offers internet, too, with unlimited data and no modem fees. Actually, there is no charge for any of their equipment. They do have a number of monthly fees, though, so make sure to read the fine print! Overall, Sprectrum is a great basic cable and internet company that most folks are very happy with. The customer service at Spectrum is said to be just great, too.

5. AT&T’s U Verse

Offers fiber optic internet, fast download speeds, and plenty of cable channels. In fact, they’ve partnered with DIRECTV to bring you all the channels you could ask for. AT&T has a very high customer satisfaction rating, too. You can call or chat online with an agent almost immediately. Someone is always available. AT&T offers a number of different bundles, one for every need. Their bundles start at just $80, and you can add a home phone to that bundle for just $9 a month. So, how do they all stack up? If you're looking for the nuts and bolts, Spectrum is the one for you. With no contracts and no equipment fees, they are the choice of those who don't need all the extra bells and whistles. If you prefer fiber optics, faster download speeds and lots of choices when it comes to what to watch on TV, go with AT&T's U Verse. Their customer service is excellent and that is often a tie breaker. It's good to know there's someone to talk to if you have a problem. However, if you do want a home phone as well as internet and cable, and would love the option of recording five TV shows at once, go with Comcast! That mega DVR is something you won't find anywhere else right now. Still not sure which one is right for you? We can help. Contact us today and we will help you choose!
