ASTAC is the Arctic Slope Telephone Association Cooperative, Inc., a member-owned telephone cooperative that provides internet, landline and mobile wireless service on Alaska's North Slope. It formed in 1977, provided digital switching in seven Inupiat communities and the Prudhoe Bay oilfields by 1981, and added Utqiaġvik with its 2000 purchase of GTE.
Its roadless service area covers more than 90,000 square miles, and ASTAC publishes home internet plans for eight villages, from Utqiaġvik and Wainwright to Kaktovik and Point Lay; that is provider-reported coverage, not an address check. It delivers internet over copper DSL or fiber, and in January 2024 it reported 91% of North Slope homes and businesses connected to its fiber. Its residential plans, updated July 6, 2026, include unlimited data with no overage fees, with contract and no-contract options.
FCC data as of December 31, 2025 shows EchoStar (HughesNet) and Starlink satellite coverage in all eight villages, and no wired service at 25/3 Mbps or faster in Anaktuvuk Pass, Kaktovik and Point Lay.
