theWISP.net, Inc. is a locally owned fixed wireless internet provider founded in Tampico, Illinois, in 2003 to bring broadband to rural communities that lacked it. The company says its service is neither satellite nor cellular: it runs fixed wireless over its own network, built from the ground up.
Its 5G packages are its own fifth-generation fixed wireless product for high-usage, low-latency service, not cellular 5G, and it still sells older 2G tiers. theWISP.net says it has grown to serve five counties in northern Illinois, including the rural areas around Sterling; its site is undated, and that is provider-reported coverage, not an address check.
Its packages advertise no usage caps, with unlimited downloads and uploads, and it also offers VoIP phone lines, business packages with a static public IP, and consulting and reselling for other wireless providers. Konecteaze's Sterling page lists AT&T and EarthLink, a listing rather than an address check.
