As of October 12, 2026, gFiber's public residential products are Core 1 Gig at $70/month, Home 3 Gig at $100/month, and Edge 8 Gig at $150/month. The older 1, 2, 5 and 8 Gig plan names can still appear on existing accounts or local materials, but they should not be presented as the nationwide new-customer menu. Every choice begins with an exact-address availability check; a city or ZIP match is not enough.

| Product | Published monthly price | Advertised speed and WiFi | Best reason to consider it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core 1 Gig | $70 | Up to 1 Gbps download and upload; WiFi 6E router included, with an extender as needed | A household that wants symmetrical fiber performance without paying for multigig capacity |
| Home 3 Gig | $100 | Up to 3 Gbps down and up; multigig WiFi 7 router and up to two extenders as needed | Heavy simultaneous use, larger homes or work that moves large files |
| Edge 8 Gig | $150 | Up to 8 Gbps down and up; multigig WiFi 7 router, eligible battery backup and uptime guarantee | Specialized equipment and workflows that can actually use multigig service |
gFiber's public page says installation, WiFi, unlimited data and a mesh-ready router are included without extra fees. It also permits customers to use their own compatible router. A speed tier is an advertised maximum, not a promise that a single WiFi device will receive the full rate. Check gFiber availability for your exact address and review the resulting product list before ordering.
Core, Home or Edge: what changes in practice?
Core 1 Gig is the sensible starting point for most households with access to it. Symmetrical upload helps with video calls, cloud backups and sharing large files; the included WiFi 6E hardware is already stronger than many older routers. Buying a faster product solely because many phones and TVs are connected is usually premature; measure whether those devices actually contend for bandwidth.
Home 3 Gig adds a multigig WiFi 7 router and installation features aimed at busy or larger homes. gFiber lists an in-home consultation and hard wiring of up to two high-use areas if eligible. The extra $30/month over Core is $360/year, so check whether your computers, switches and wiring can use multigig speeds.
Edge 8 Gig adds the highest published speed and additional reliability features, including a battery backup and uptime guarantee as described on gFiber's page. It costs $80/month more than Core, or $960/year. The value is strongest for a specific creator or business-like home workflow with compatible 10-gig equipment. It is unnecessary for ordinary streaming alone.
What happened to 2 Gig and 5 Gig?
gFiber says some existing customers remain on previous 1 Gig, 2 Gig, 5 Gig or 8 Gig plans. Those are legacy product names in the current national product explanation. Do not assume that an older 2 Gig or 5 Gig advertisement is a new-customer option, or that every existing subscriber must switch immediately. Check your account and the products available at your own address before comparing prices or migrating.
Availability and local alternatives
gFiber operates in selected markets and builds street by street. Even within an announced city, one building may qualify while a neighboring block does not. Our gFiber provider page explains the network and local checks. In South Texas, use the San Antonio internet comparison to consider available AT&T, Spectrum and other options, then confirm service at the actual address. For a fiber-to-fiber comparison, see AT&T versus gFiber.
Questions readers ask
Does gFiber charge for a router or installation?
The current public residential product page says WiFi equipment and installation are included. Confirm the final written order, especially if an unusual property needs extra work.
Is 8 Gig available wherever 1 Gig is offered?
No. Products depend on the address and local network. Use gFiber's exact-address eligibility check.
Should an existing 2 Gig customer switch to Home 3 Gig?
Compare the account's present price, equipment and terms with the current address-specific offer. The public product page identifies 2 Gig as a previous plan, but it does not determine what every existing account should do.
