A Little About WOW!
WOW! stands for Wide Open West. It boasts high internet speeds with no data caps and very affordable bundle pricing compared to its competitors which include AT&T internet, Xfinity internet, Centurylink internet, Spectrum internet, Viasat internet and Hughesnet internet. It is currently the 6th largest cable operator in the United States.
Although they offer cable tv and home phone packages, most customers are drawn to WOW! for their cord-cutting friendly internet plans. With cord-cutting becoming more and more prevalent in the US, WOW!’s high speed internet plans with no data restrictions makes WOW! a popular choice when choosing internet providers in your area. This means carelessly bingeing away on Netflix while the kids play Fortnite until their thumbs cramp up.
WOW! Internet and Cable TV/Phone Plans
WOW!’s pricing and high internet speeds will usually be the first two things consumers will be attracted to. Sprinkle in ”no data caps” on their internet and WOW! delivers great options for streamers and gamers alike. This is also a plus for those customers who are coming from satellite internet services like Hughesnet and Viasat, whose services often have data caps or are limited in their internet speeds.
Most of WOW!’s plans come with a 2 year agreement similar to providers such as AT&T, Viasat and Hughesnet, with a $5 monthly discount to do autopay and paperless billing. They do offer a “no contract” option, but expect to pay about $10 more monthly for each plan.
Below lists WOW!’s most popular plans offered on 2yr contracts and are including the $5 monthly autopay and paperless billing discount. Of course, taxes are not included in these prices and if you need to borrow a modem/router from the company, you will be charged a $10 monthly leasing charge to borrow their equipment. But have no fear, you can always go out and purchase your own modem/router to save yourself the $10 monthly expense as long as it is compatible with their service and can accommodate the speed of internet you’re getting.
Let’s take a look at the plans…
|Packages||1st /Yr Price||Includes TV||Includes Phone||2nd /Yr Price|
|Internet 100 Mbps||$24.99||No||No||$44.99|
|Internet 100 Mbps + Medium Cable||$64.99||Yes||No||$94.99|
|100 Mbps + Medium TV + Home Phone||$74.98||Yes||Yes||$94.99|
|100 Mbps + Large TV + Home Phone||$89.98||Yes||Yes||$109.99|
|500 Mbps + Large TV||$94.99||Yes||No||$124.99|
|500 Mbps + Large TV + Home Phone||$104.98||Yes||Yes||$124.99|

|1,000 Mbps + Large TV + Home Phone||$119.98||Yes||Yes||$139.99|
Some other key things to note is that there is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee period on their 24 month agreement. So if you’re not satisfied with the service within the first 30 days of service, you may cancel early and not be liable for a cancellation fee. After 30 days, the Early Termination Fee starts at $345 and decreases by $15 for each month completed on the 2 year contract.
Installation is typically $50 but promotions run pretty often where a free installation can be offered.
WOW! CABLE TV Packages
WOW!’s cable TV packages are pretty simplistic to say the least. There’s enough here to get the job done and the pricing isn’t bad compared to competitors but WOW!’s sole focus is to offer great internet in the markets they are in and not so much on Cable TV.
Unlike AT&T, Centurylink, Xfinity and others, WOW! takes the approach Spectrum took when they simplified the options to only 3 plans. There’s currently 3 packages offered: Small Cable, Medium Cable, and Large Cable.
The Small Cable package is mostly just local channels (ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, PBS, etc.), some shopping channels, and a plethora of music channels. It’s practically channels you can pick up with rabbit ears along with some music stations and hard to recommend to anyone.
The Medium Cable package comes with 85+ channels which offers a good mix of “basics” (History, Nat Geo, AMC, Food Network, Lifetime, SyFy, etc) and “sports” (ESPN 1 & 2, SEC Network, Fox Sports 1 & 2, etc) and also comes with a choice of a Premium Channel like HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, or Starz.
The Large Cable package offers over 130+ channels and pretty much builds on the sports experience with the additions of channels like NFL Network, MLB Network, and Golf Channel. It also includes your choice of a Premium Channel like the Medium Cable plan.
Is WOW! Available in my Area?
WOW! currently services major and mid-sized cities in 10 states. These states include Alabama, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kansas, and Tennessee. Their coverage map has been growing at a steady pace but is still limited compared to other cable giants like Charter Spectrum or Comcast Xfinity. A good website to check serviceability with WOW! is KonectEaze. This website can easily list the internet options in your area and they also have a friendly staff who can answer questions about any provider servicing your area. If you want to learn more about how Konecteaze can help you check out this quick video tutorial about our service
WOW!’s pricing, internet speeds, and “no data caps” will satisfy most customers’ needs and wants from an ISP.
Where they faulter is their limited serviceability in the US and their subpar Cable TV offerings.
But overall, in the areas that WOW! does service, they offer fantastic internet speeds for your buck and being without data caps makes them a perfect choice for any gamer or cord-cutting streamer.
