Windows

Morning means a window that starts before 11am. That was 46.5% of 36,008 scheduled windows the records could read. Midday, a start from 11am to 2pm, was 27.6%. Afternoon or evening, a start at 2pm or later, was 21.0%. All-day windows were 5.0%.

The records do not give one length in hours that fits every visit. They record which part of the day was booked.

Weekdays

Friday was the most common day for the actual install, at 17.6% of installs with a date. Friday (17.6%) is that same result.

Saturday was 13.4% and Sunday was 4.3%. Together, Saturday and Sunday were 17.7% of installs.

Practical tips

  • If someone can be home in the morning, ask for a morning window when you order. 46.5% of scheduled installs in these records were booked in the morning.
  • Ask for a call or text before the technician leaves for your address, so you are not waiting the whole window.
  • Weekend appointments exist. 17.7% of installs were on Saturday or Sunday, and Sunday alone was 4.3%. If you need a weekend, ask for it when you order, and take a weekday if the weekend is full.

Methodology

Updated · Shared rules: how these studies were made

What we analyzed

This study looks at the weekday of the actual install and the appointment window scheduled with the order. Free-text window notes were grouped into morning, midday, afternoon or evening, and all-day. Notes that could not be read were left out.

Install days are published as shares only, without the number of dated installs.

When the records are from

The appointment windows and install days come from order records dated May 2017 through May 2025 (2017-05 to 2025-05), from people who called our affiliated sales call center. They are not a random sample of United States households, and the span is not a claim about one year.

Limitations

Window labels were typed in many formats. Only windows that could be read clearly are counted.
