Read this as order share

Every percentage on this page is order share: the portion of orders in this dataset. It is not national market share, and it is not a ranking of provider quality.

The three findings above use internet orders only (59,859 orders). The provider chart includes internet and TV orders together (66,978 orders), which is why Viasat (Exede) is 43.4% in the chart and 48.5% in the internet-only finding. Both figures are in the source files. They answer different questions.

21 internet providers had at least 30 orders. The five most-ordered of those took 82.6% of internet orders. Spectrum was second among internet orders, at 15.5%.

Internet type mix

Among internet orders, satellite was 55.3% (33,079 orders), cable, fiber, and DSL together were 44.6% (26,693 orders), and fixed wireless was 0.1% (87 orders).

A deeper satellite-versus-wired comparison is not part of this page. Use the type shares here as a description of these orders, then check what is actually offered at your address.

Find providers near you

The providers in this dataset are the ones shoppers ordered after calling. Your address can have a completely different list. Enter your ZIP for a starting point, then confirm service at the address before you order.

Practical tips

  • Start with your address, not with a national ranking. Order share here follows where shoppers called from.
  • Compare connection type at the address: satellite, cable, fiber, DSL, or fixed wireless. The type mix above describes these orders.

Methodology

Updated · Shared rules: how these studies were made

What we analyzed

This study counts orders by the provider that was sold. It shows what shoppers chose when they called. It is order share in this dataset, not national market share.

When the records are from

The order counts come from order records dated May 2017 through May 2025 (2017-05 to 2025-05), from people who called our affiliated sales call center. They are not a random sample of United States households, and the span is not a claim about one year of the market.

Limitations

Order mix reflects which providers were offered, and where. It is not a ranking of provider quality or national market share.
